The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymuhamedov congratulated compatriots on the Day of the Constitution and the State Flag of Turkmenistan.
The Day of the Constitution and the State Flag of Turkmenistan is celebrated in the country since 2018. Initially, on May 18, only the day of the Constitution of Turkmenistan was celebrated in the country, and the Day of the State Flag was on February 19, in honor of the fact that on this day in 1992 it was approved as a state symbol of the country. However, at a meeting of the Khalk Maslahats of Turkmenistan on October 10, 2017, it was decided to combine the Day of the State Flag with the Constitution Day and transfer it to May 18.
“The Constitution of Independent Neutral Turkmenistan is a document that defines the foundations of the social and state system, the prevailing sparks of sacred concepts about the homeland, the people and the state, the principles of neutrality, the status of which is delegated by the world community at the level of the United Nations. The President noted that the green banner of the country is a symbol of statehood, “calls on the peoples of the planet for friendship and fraternity, cooperation on the basis of goodwill and, expressing the principles of humanism, peacekeeping and sovereignty, unites their native people on the way to great goals.”
