Process of issuing certificates to sailors simplified

The State Maritime and Port Agency, created by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated October 11, 2021, subordinate to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, conducts effective reforms in the direction of the development of the seaside transport.

As part of the reform, the Agency will simplify the process of issuing certificates (diplomas) from December 1 of the current year to protect the labor rights of sailors, enhance their professionalism and ensure labor continuity.

So, sailors (team membership members) are exempt from the exam for replacing certificates (diplomas) with an expired period for the same position in the following cases:

– in the presence of the necessary experience on board the vessel in accordance with the International Convention on the preparation and graduation of sailors and watches;

– if there is a certificate about the successful passage of advanced training courses;

– in the presence of the required certificates of special training;

– When the state of health allows you to hold office.

Before this change in the knowledge and skills of seafarers were checked by the Agency through the exam after passing training courses to replace certificates (diplomas) with an expired for new ones.
