Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan announced the arrest by the court of three Armenian football players in the case of insulting the Azerbaijani flag.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Armenia citizens Alain Sargsyan, Vakha Ovsepyan and Levon Grigoryan were detained on Monday by military personnel of the State Border Service at the Lachin border post of Azerbaijani-Armenian state border.
They were previously declared Azerbaijan on an international investigation wanted by Azerbaijani flag and publishing the corresponding video on the Internet.
“taking into account the age of the accused and their sincere repentance with sincere recognition, in compliance with the requirements of criminal procedure legislation, applying the principle of humanism, criminal prosecution was discontinued in their respect,” the department said.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, a court decision against them applied an administrative arrest for a period of 10 days.
“, after the execution of the court decision, the expulsion of these persons will be ensured outside the Azerbaijan Republic,” the department added.
