The President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, who died on the eve of the helicopter crash, made an invaluable personal contribution to the development of good -neighborly relations between Tehran and Moscow.

“accept deep condolences in connection with a huge tragedy that befell the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran – a plane crash that claimed the life of President Eyed Ebrahim Raisi, as well as the lives of a number of other prominent statesmen of your country,” follows the message.

Putin noted that Seyed Ebrahim Raisi was an outstanding politician, whose whole life was dedicated to serving the motherland.

“He rightfully enjoyed the high respect of compatriots and significant authority abroad. As a true friend of Russia, he made an invaluable personal contribution to the development of good neighborly relations between our countries, made great efforts to bring them to the level of strategic partnership,” the Russian leader emphasized .

Putin noted that he had a chance to meet with Seyed Ebrahim Raisisi, and he “will forever retain the brightest memory of this wonderful person.”

“I ask you to convey the words of sincere sympathy and support to the family and friends of the late president and all those who died in this terrible disaster. I wish them and the whole Iranian people of emotional stamina in the face of such a severe, irreparable loss,” the President of the Russian Federation added.

President and Foreign Minister Iran died when a helicopter crash
