Representatives of CSTO familiarized themselves with mission of Armenian peacekeepers in Lebanon

Representatives of the Secretariat and the United Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization from December 5 to 9 are located in Lebanon to familiarize themselves with the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission under the auspices of the UN. This is reported on the CSTO website.

In the UN mission, armed contingents of three CSTO member countries are involved: Armenia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. In the CSTO, work is currently being actively involved in embedding the UNDKB’s peacekeeping capacity, this is one of the priorities of the organization. The main purpose of the trip is to familiarize yourself with the activities of the UNIFIL mission, the study of the peculiarities of the fulfillment of peacekeeping problems with multinational peacekeeping contingents, the message says.

As part of the trip, working meetings were held with the acting head of the UN Mission Jack Christofidees, as well as with the head of the UN Secretary Staff in Lebanon by the Brigades General Yubery Gomar. The parties exchanged views on possible areas of peacekeeping cooperation.

CSTO representatives also attend peacekeeping contingents, including those formed from military personnel of Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. With the command of the sectors of the peacekeeping mission and peacekeeping contingents, consultations and exchange of experience on issues of practical interest are provided.

In particular, the conditions for the functioning and interaction of national peacekeeping contingents, the peculiarities of their preparation, logistical and legal support, equipping compatible weapons and military equipment.
