Riots in Montenegro

In front of the parliament building in the Montenegrin Podgorica, riots began. There is a protest against the law on the powers of the President, local media reports.

Police officers began to use tear gas. Protesters chanted anti -government slogans, while the police guarded the parliament.

According to the new law adopted on November 1, the president is obliged to propose the candidacy of the Prime Minister if the candidate has the majority in parliament.

“The Montenegro government has a technical mandate and is trying to adopt this non -institutional law regarding the President of Montenegro. I do not know what else to say. People do not have the right to decide anything,” said one of the protesters.
