Rolls-Royce tests fastest electric aircraft

The British company Rolls-Royce has tested the Spirit Of Innovation aircraft. It is expected to become the world’s fastest electric powered aircraft, KP reports.

The world record is scheduled to be set this spring. The plane must overcome the mark of 482 km / h. This is one third more than the previous record set by Siemens Extra 330LE in 2017.

The newest aircraft Spirit Of Innovation is equipped with a 400 kW (500 hp) power plant. This should help it accelerate to the required speed.

According to the developers, a battery of 6,000 cells was placed in the aircraft to power the electric motor, which became the most energy-intensive element ever installed on an electric aircraft.
