The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the fact of an armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran.
“We express the deep condolences of the Azerbaijani side in connection with the attack on the Azerbaijan Embassy in Tehran. According to the incoming information, this morning an armed person penetrated the diplomatic mission building and opened fire. As a result, one employee of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission was killed, two more colleagues were injured . The attacker was detained by the Tehran police, an investigation is being conducted. We calculate that all the perpetrators will be held accountable, ”the report said on the official website of the department.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that “the incident once again confirms the importance of providing the authorities of the state of the safe work of diplomatic missions in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of April 18, 1961.”
