Russia next year plans to continue the “special military operation” in Ukraine until it completes all the tasks, the Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said, Russian media.

“Continue to carry out a special military operation until the complete tasks are fully fulfilled,” he said at an expanded meeting of the college of the department, speaking of plans for 2023.

At the same time, Shoigu noted that in order to guaranteed the solutions to ensure military security of the Russian Federation, it is necessary to bring the number of armed forces to one and a half million military personnel, including a contract under a contract – up to 695 thousand people.

The minister also said that they plan to change the age framework in Russia, within the framework of which a call for military service is undergoing.

“When setting up the armed forces, in stages to increase the age of the call of citizens from 18 to 21 years old, and the limit is to increase to 30 years,” he said.

According to Shoigu, it is also planned to “provide the opportunity to enter the military service under the contract at the request of citizens or be called up from the first day of arrival at the service.”

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the proposals expressed by the head of the Ministry of Defense to reform the armed forces.

“I agree with your proposals about further structural changes in the armed forces. After discussing at the collegium, I ask you to report, and we will talk about this in detail again,” said Putin.
