Russians are taken from euro on Finnish border

Finland border guards began to withdraw the euro from Russians crossing the border from the European Union to Russia. Russian media write about this.

Finnish customs officers inspect Russian citizens and, if they find the euro, they seize money for storage or offer to transfer to someone in Europe. They refer to new customs rules, according to which the export of banknotes of the EU official currency to Russia is prohibited.

The rules do not have the lower boundary of the seizure, so customs officers take even small amounts.

In return, they give a form with a description of the seized bills and assure that people can take them at a checkpoint when they go to Europe again. It is worth noting that in most cases, Finnish border guards are not interested in how much money Russians are taking if they take less than the amount to be declared.
