Saudi Arabia abandoned application for World Cup 2030

Saudi Arabia does not intend to claim the 2030 World Cup, the Marca portal reports.

Initially, the Saudi authorities wanted to hold a tournament with Greece and Egypt.

According to information, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Faisal Ibn Farhan Al Saud informed his partners about the abandonment. The decision was made due to uncertainty in the ability to compete with the application of Portugal, Spain and Morocco.

An application from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay will also apply for the tournament. About which countries will become the owners of the championship will become known in September 2024.
