The Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico expressed a protest against the termination of Russian natural gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine, emphasizing that if conditions are not fulfilled, tough measures will be taken against Ukraine and Ukrainians living in Slovakia.
In an interview with the press, Fiko said that if the situation is not resolved, Slovakia will suspend humanitarian aid, including the Program for Monation in Ukraine, and will also limit or completely stop assistance to Ukrainian citizens who have arrived in Slovakia.
In addition, he noted that the support of emergency supplies of electricity to Ukraine will be discontinued, and at the meetings of the European Union, Slovakia will use the right of veto against Ukraine.
Fiko added that the coalition government of Slovakia has sufficient support in parliament to take these steps. He also noted that he was not afraid of increasing tension in relations with Ukraine and recalled that he had previously criticized Kyiv for suspension of gas transit and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to this step.
