SMBAT Grigoryan: Azerbaijani customs posts paralyzize economy of Armenia

Azerbaijan establishment of customs points on the road Goris – Kafan will inevitably lead to serious problems import to Armenia petroleum products. This in an interview with the Armenian media was stated by the Economic Expert of Smbath Grigoryan.

The expert believes that recently there have been serious problems with the import of vital for the country of goods in Armenia.

SMBAT GRIGORYAN reminded that Azerbaijan posted points on separate sites of the Interstate Road Goris – Kafan, connecting Armenia with Iran and requires the drivers of Iranian trucks for the passage. This, according to Grigoryan, has already led to the rise in price of Iranian gasoline and diesel fuel.

According to official data, Iran accounts for about 24% of the total volume of petroleum products imported into Armenia. Russia is 71%. The expert also believes that with the deterioration of natural conditions, the movement of transport on the above highway can be paralyzed at all. Thus, Armenia can lose almost a quarter of the imported oil product resources.

It believes Grigoryan, can lead to chaos in the Armenian economy, interruptions in trading in gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as a sharp jump in their retail prices.
