Son of ex-head of General Staff of Armenia beat a policeman in Yerevan and was detained

The son of the ex-head of the General Staff of Armenia Yuri Khachaturov, Igor Khachaturov, was detained on suspicion of applying violence against a representative of the authorities, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia reports.

It is noted that on Tuesday, May 17, the protesters blocked Kievan Street in Yerevan, preventing the free movement of citizens.

“Police officers called on the protesters to open the road, trying to remove them from the roadway. At that time, two of the participants in the action struck the police officer’s chest, as a result of which he lost consciousness,” the department noted.

The investigative body found that one of these citizens is Igor Khachaturov. The preliminary investigation continues.
