The defense forces of Ukraine continued the counterattack north of Kharkov and pushed Russian troops to the border of the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian army managed to free several settlements. This is stated in the summary of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The counterattack of the Ukrainian army continued north of the liberated Old Saltov. Russians relocate troops from raisins to try to weaken the counterattack of Ukrainians and prevent further advancement to the north to the border with Russia.

“The Ukrainian counterattack will most likely continue to distract the attention of the Russian troops from deployment to other directions of the offensive, where the fighting was also stopped by a successful Ukrainian defense,” the summary said.

Experts also predict that the counter-storage of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will stop the attacks of Russian artillery on the northeastern outskirts of Kharkov and potentially allow Ukrainian troops to attack the Russian rear.

According to experts, this counterattack paralyzes the offensive actions of Russians in the area of Izum, from where they tried to form a ring for the environment of Ukrainian forces in the Donbass.

Earlier, ISW reported that the counterattack of the Armed Forces expanded even more to the northeast of Kharkov, and probably in the coming days or weeks will advance to the border with Russia.
