Switzerland is ready to represent interests of Ukraine in Russia

Switzerland and Ukraine agreed on the possibility of representing the interests of Ukraine in Russia through Swiss diplomatic missions, said the head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Mikel Steiner.

If Moscow approves this proposal, then Russians will be able to receive visas to Ukraine at the embassy and consulates of Switzerland, and Ukrainian diplomats, through the mediation of Switzerland, will be able to provide consular assistance to citizens of Ukraine in Russia and Russians living in Ukraine. Switzerland is also ready to act as the host for Russian-Ukrainian negotiations.

In the Russian Foreign Ministry, in response to the joint initiative of Ukraine and Switzerland, they said that the ministry was not in contact with Switzerland on this issue. The department emphasized that Russia is not ready to consider proposals on the mediation from countries that have joined international sanctions against Russia.
