Ter-Petrosyan demanded immediate resignation of Pashinyan

Former President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, whose party was former Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, told how he sees a way out of the ongoing internal political crisis in the country,

According to the ex-president of Armenia, “in the interests of both the state, the people, and the prime minister himself, the immediate resignation and, with the legal provision of guarantees of immunity by the National Assembly, his, albeit temporary, stay abroad.” >

“Vazgen Manukyan presented today three options for resolving the internal political crisis: a) a military coup; b) the way to the resignation of the prime minister thanks to the popular pressure organized by the movement to save the Motherland; and c) the inadmissibility of holding early elections by the current prime minister. takes into account, however, the following circumstances: the first option is absolutely unconstitutional, realizing this, the army, despite the opposition’s pressure on it, rejected with all determination. As for the movement to save the Motherland, it is already untimely, since more than four months of public events and acute internal disagreements showed that it absolutely does not enjoy the support of the broad masses and is completely exhausted, “Ter-Petrosyan said in response to Vazgen Manukyan’s statements, Armenian News reports.

As for the third option, the ex-head of Armenia “fully agrees with Manukyan”.

“The Prime Minister and the political force that is his support, in addition to evading responsibility for the shameful defeat, are guided not by concerns about strengthening and strengthening the state, but exclusively by an open mania to preserve their power at any cost. I also agree with the assertions voiced in society that that in the event of early elections organized by the ruling force, they will not disdain the widespread use of administrative resources, as a result of which all polling stations may turn into hotbeds of tension.

I am sure that in this case we will witness the most shameful elections in the history of Armenia. And this could mean the end of the Armenian statehood or a long nightmare survival.

Therefore, the only way out, proceeding from the interests of both the state and the people, and personally the Prime Minister, in my opinion, is the immediate and voluntary resignation of the latter and the provision of legal guarantees of immunity by the National Assembly, his, even temporary, refuge abroad … In this case, the duties of the prime minister should be entrusted to a non-partisan deputy prime minister who, by virtue of his neutrality, is able to ensure fair elections. “
