Ter-Petrosyan on attempted military coup in Armenia

“I fully understand the indignation of the high military command and the position of the army to interfere in political processes beyond its competence, the reason for which was nothing more than a careless attempt by the prime minister to blame the army for the humiliating defeat.” This is stated in the statement of the first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan regarding the statement of the General Staff demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Armenian media reported.

Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s statement also notes:

“At the same time, I would like to welcome the restrained behavior of the military in response to the calls of some forces to incite them to unconstitutional actions. I consider this behavior of the army leadership an exemplary manifestation of state thinking, an honest desire to save the country from destructive shocks, which deserves sincere gratitude to everyone our people.

At the same time, I consider it extremely dangerous and worthy of condemnation the irresponsible statements of some politicians who present the military coup as a positive way to improve the health of the state. “

Recall that on February 25, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia issued a statement demanding the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the government.
