The number of tourists who visited the country last month was released. According to the State Agency for Tourism, in August Azerbaijan visited 171,960 foreigners.
This is 123% more than in the same period last year. In August last year, 77,119 foreign tourists visited the country.
In January-August of this year, the country visited 1,004,146 foreigners, which is more than 127%compared to the corresponding period last year. For the first 8 months of 2021, 442,592 foreign tourists visited the country.
Most of the tourists arrived from Russia (43 010), Turkey (24 159), Saudi Arabia (22 774), Iran (14,399) and Georgia (7585).
We note, in comparison with 2019 (before the pandemic), the number of foreigners who arrived in the country is 52% less. In August 2019, 361,359 tourists visited the country. In January-August 2019, the number of tourists (2 136 236) was 53% more than for the corresponding period of this year.
