Turkish scientist explained: new earthquake was not an aftershok

The scientist indicated that in the future it was worth expecting new earthquakes of such power. “This is not a repeated earthquake after the first in Kamhramanmarash, but an independent, which is provoked by the previously occurred disclosure of the fault in this region. Probably, it is worth expecting such shocks on the fault line, which runs further into the Mediterranean Sea. The probability of repeating large shocks exists,” – – – – – said Tuisuz.

The professor noted that at the risk zone of the province on both sides of the fault, including Bingel, Adan, as well as regions in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On Monday, February 20, the Turkish Emergency Department reported two earthquakes of magnitude 6.4 and 5.8, which occurred with a difference of several minutes in the province of Hatai in the southeast of the country. The first occurred in the Defna region, the second in Samandag. The buildings were destroyed, including those that were injured earlier. According to the authorities, as a result of the current strikes, at least three people were killed, 219 were injured. Superior shocks were also felt in Egypt, Israel, in Cyprus, in Lebanon, Syria.
