Turks of Western Thrace protest against decision to release Racist Mikhaloliakos

The Turks from the Western Trakia responded to the decision on the parole of the former chairman of the ultra-right criminal organization “Golden Dawn” in Greece Nicos Mikhaloliakos.

The statement of the Friendship and World party (FEP), published on social networks, states that the decision to liberate the leader of the criminal organization created a crisis of confidence in justice.

The statement emphasizes that democracy in the country is experiencing an extremely critical process.

In the statement of the Federation of the Turks of the Western Trakia in Europe (ABTTF), published on social networks, it is noted that this decision wounded public consciousness and that this is an alarming situation for Greece.

According to the statement, the Golden Dawn repeatedly carried out direct attacks on the Turks of Western Trakia, and the decision to liberate Mikhaloliakos indicates that the legal values in Greece are at risk.

According to Greek media reports, on May 2, the Lamia Judicial Council announced that Mikhaloliakos, who was in the Domokos prison for the “leadership of the criminal organization”, may be parole until the 13-year-old life for health reasons.

He was first in intensive care, and then was placed in a special medical center after Covid-19 fell ill in March 2022.

Mikhaloliakos’s prison term was supposed to last until April 2032.
