UN: 10,382 peaceful residents died in war in Ukraine

Deputy Secretary General of the UN for political issues and issues of world building Rosemary Dicarlo said that 10,382 people died from the first day of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and 19,659 people were injured.

Dikarlo performed at the UN Security Council, which gathered at the request of the Moscow Administration after an attack on the city of Lisichansk controlled by Russia in the Lugansk region of Ukraine, which claimed the life of 28 people.

She noted that over the past few weeks, Russian attacks in the regions under the control of Ukraine intensified.

“last week there was a significant increase in violence, more than 570 settlements were attacked, especially in the Zaporizhzhya region. As a result of terrorist attacks, 12 civilians were killed and 60 people were injured,” Dicarlo said.

Dicarlo, referring to the data of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UVKPH), noted that 10,382 people have died in Ukraine since the beginning of the war in February 2022, including 579 children, another 19,659 people, including 1285 children, were injured.

Deputy Secretary General noted that the number of victims among the civilian population in Ukraine since December “It began to increase significantly again.”

“I must once again emphasize that attacks on the civilian population and civil infrastructure, wherever they take place, contradict international law. This is unacceptable and should be immediately terminated.” she said.

Dicarlo noted that “there are no signs of the fact that the end is close to” this conflict, because of which millions of Ukrainians left their country.
