UN start meeting on suspension of Russia’s membership in Human Rights Council

The UN General Assembly resumed on Thursday a special session in Ukraine, at which the United States Initiative and a number of Western countries will be considered on the suspension of Russia’s membership in the Human Rights Council, transfers TASS.

According to information, two-thirds of the votes of the meeting are required for the adoption of the document. TASS notes that Russia regards these steps as politically motivated, fraught with devastating consequences for the UN system.

At the beginning of the meeting, a number of states, including Ukraine, Russia, China, as well as Kazakhstan, Venezuela, DPRK, Mexico, Iran, Syria Cuba will present its position on the upcoming vote. Then a vote will pass, after which the performances will be held on its results.
