UN told how many children suffered from war in Ukraine

Due to the war in Ukraine and growing inflation, almost 4 million children in Eastern Europe and Central Asia were behind the poverty line, according to the UN Children’s Fund, which is published on the official website of the organization.

It is reported that the researchers used data from 22 countries. According to UNICEF, the number of poor children increased by 19% per year. “Children bear the greatest burden of the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine,” said Afshan Khan, regional director of the organization of Europe and Central Asia,

In Russia, children living beyond the poverty were 2.8 million more. In Ukraine, there were half a million such children. The ongoing military conflict affected more than seven and a half million Ukrainian children. In the country, houses, schools, hospitals, hundreds of thousands of people were injured or destroyed without pure water and electricity. Many children were separated from the family or completely lost it.
