The US citizens who are in Russia should urgently leave the country due to the risk of mobilization, according to the website of the American Embassy in the Russian Federation.
The diplomatic mission emphasized that the Russian authorities can refuse to recognize dual citizenship of the United States, deprive American citizens of consular assistance, “subject them to mobilization” and prevent departure from Russia.
“If you want to leave Russia, you should take independent measures as soon as possible. The US Embassy has serious restrictions in its capabilities to help US citizens leave the country, and the possibilities of transportation may suddenly become even more limited,” the embassy warns.
The US Embassy also recommends that the US citizens “avoid any political or social protests and not photograph the security officers at these events.” As reminded in the diplomatic mission, earlier the Russian authorities have already arrested US citizens for participating in demonstrations.
The last time the US Embassy urged American citizens to leave Russia after mobilization on September 21. Then the diplomatic mission recommended doing this “as soon as possible” and warned that the number of commercial flights from Russia is “extremely limited”.
