United States Senator BarPares team works in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance in order to block the gold reserves of Russia about $ 132 billion due to the situation around Ukraine, reports Interfax Ukraine with reference to AXIOS.
According to the sources of the portal, the US Finance Minister Janet Yellen will meet this week with four senators to discuss the draft law on sanctions for persons participating in operations with gold from the stocks of the Central Bank of Russia.
It is noted that the draft law specifies the application of secondary sanctions to any American organizations consciously carrying out operations with gold or transporting it from the reserves of the Central Bank of Russia. They will also face sanctions if they sell gold physically or electronic way in Russia. According to one of the senators, this bill can be accepted already this week.
