Referendums in the occupied territories of Ukraine have become a “desperate step” of the Russian leadership, the US State Department said.
The State Department noted that the United States will respond to “referendums” if they take place.
“We have a number of tools. You have seen how we used them in recent months, and our allies and partners are ready to join us,” the message says.
He emphasized that the so -called “referendums” will not change the status of Ukraine and the recognition of its territorial and sovereign borders.
“I think that this (Russia’s attempts to conduct” referendums “in the occupied territories of Ukraine) really indicates a pressure that Ukrainians are currently providing with a very strong support for the United States and their allies,” added in the State Department.
