US President Joe Bayden prepared an initial sanctions package, against Russia, including the ban on American banks to process transactions for large Russian banks. Among them may be – VTB Bank, Sberbank, VEB and Gazprombank, reports Reuters with reference to three people who are familiar with this issue.
According to them, restrictions are provided for in the case of the “invasion of” Russia into the territory of Ukraine. The agency’s interlocutors noted that these measures are called upon to damage the Russian economy with the help of a gap of “correspondent” relations between the banks of the Parties that make up the basis of global cash flows.
Washington also intends to use sanctions against some Russian individuals and companies by including their blacklist, which will exclude them from the US banking system, will forbid trade with the Americans and freeze their assets in the United States.
