US Department of Finance Janet Yellen called an additional package of financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $ 500 million, which was previously reported by American President Joe Biden, “Only Beginning”, reports Associated Press.
“We plan to direct this direct assistance to Ukraine as soon as possible so that it can be used for the most urgent needs. And we know that it is only the beginning of what Ukraine needs to be restored,” she said.
Thus, this package will be provided additionally to those $ 500 million, which Biden announced in March.
Speaking of sanctions against Russia, she noted that the United States continues to “compress the visks of our economic pressure campaign.” She also reiterated that “Europe clearly should reduce its dependence on Russia against energy.”
