US Navy intercepted huge batch of explosives in Oman Gulf

The fifth fleet of the US Navy intercepted the fishing vessel, which smuggled a “huge” number of explosives. It went from Iran along the route in the Oman Gulf, which was used to transport weapons to the Yemeni Husit group, writers writes.

The American military has discovered more than 70 tons of ammonium perchlorate, which is used for the production of missiles and rocket fuel, as well as explosives. Also on the intercepted ship there were four crew members from Yemen and 100 tons of urea fertilizers that are used in agriculture and for the manufacture of explosives.

“It was a huge amount of explosive, sufficient to fuel more than a dozen medium -range ballistic missiles depending on the size. The illegal transfer of deadly assistance from Iran does not go unnoticed. It is irresponsible, dangerous and leads to violence and instability in the Middle East”, -said Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the Central Command of the US Navy, the 5th Fleet of the United States and the United Naval Forces.

The military coalition under the leadership of Saudi Arabia has been fighting the Right Hussites in Yemen since 2015. The kingdom has repeatedly accused Iran of supplying this group of weapons, but Tehran denies this accusation.
