The USA and the PRC are working on the organization of the first personal meeting of the heads of defense departments in the fields of the conference in Singapore in June, writes The Wall Street Journal with reference to informed sources.
“China and the United States are working on the approval of the first personal meeting of its highest military officials in the fields of the Conference in Singapore since June against the background of growing tension due to Taiwan,” the report said.
The head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin intends to visit the Shangri-La Dialog forum which will be held on June 10-12. The visit of the Chinese Minister of Defense Wei Fenhe has not yet been announced, but, according to the interlocutors of the newspaper, the minister intends to attend. The publication notes that the holding of this meeting is not final, and plans may change.
