Uzbekistan and European Commission are interested in speedy expansion of partnership and cooperation

Uzbekistan and the European Commission expressed interest in signing an agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation (SRPS) between the country and the EU, parafated on July 6, 2022, the Uzbek media reported.

This was stated during the meeting of the special representative of the President of Uzbekistan on foreign policy of Abdulaziz Kamilov and the director for political coordination and the management of the executive apparatus of the President of the European Commission of Zhivka Petkova in Brussels.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the promotion of Uzbek-European relations and the development of interaction in the regional format.

“Zhivka Petkova praised the efforts of the Uzbek side in the fight against climate change and mitigating its negative consequences. Support for the initiative of Uzbekistan on the international climatic forum this year in Samarkand,” the statement said.

The relevance of interaction in the field of critically important raw materials is emphasized, including by concluding the corresponding memorandum.

The parties also discussed the schedule of upcoming joint activities of a bilateral and interregional nature.
