In the world, the number of people suffering from diabetes over the past 40 years has rose four times. Most of those in serious condition in the hospital COVID patients suffer from diabetes. The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhan Grebresus was stated about TAEDOS.
“The need to make urgent measures to combat diabetes are obvious more than ever. The number of people with diabetes has increased four times in the last 40 years. This is the only serious non-infectious disease, in which the risk of premature death increases, and not decreases. And most people who are in serious condition in the hospital with COVID-19, suffer from diabetes, “said Gebresus, whose words lead the Ukrainian edition of the Correspondent.net.
The head of WHO added that measures should be taken to expand the population’s access to early diagnosis of the disease, as well as drugs.
