Options for the response of the European Commission on the application of Georgia to receive the status of a candidate country analyzed the observer of the Georgian Netgazeti.
The publication calls one of the best scenarios, obtaining the status of a candidate without additional conditions. This happened to North Macedonia in 2005. The second, according to the observer, is the receipt of status with conditions and obligations. This was with Montenegro in 2010 and there were seven conditions for it.
The most likely sources of the newspaper for Georgia call the status of a potential candidate. This was with Albania in 2009 and five years later she received the status of a candidate.
The publication also notes two more scenarios, according to which there will be a statement-promotion without specific terms, as in the case of NATO at a summit in Bucharest, or a delay in decision-making.
The publication notes that a complete refusal is considered unlikely.
Georgia and Moldova applied for membership in the Evorosoyuz on March 3, after Ukraine. The countries have already passed the first stage – the European Commission questionnaires were filled out, binding on all countries applying for the status of candidates.
