Women make up 49.9% of population of Turkey

as of the end of 2023, 49.9 percent of the population of Turkey are women. Such data are given by the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (Tüi̇k).

Men are 50.1 percent of the country’s population. The female population of Turkey is 42 million 638 thousand 306 people, and the male – 42 million 734 thousand 71 people.

Due to the fact that women live longer, this proportional balance between men and women changes in favor of women, starting from the age group 60 years old and older.

The share of the female population amounted to 52.1 percent in the age group 60-74 years and 70.2 percent in the age group 90 years and older.

Also, according to statistical data, the share of the population of Turkey aged 25 years and older, which received at least one level of education, increased in the period from 2008 to 2022.

The share of persons aged 25 years and older, who received at least one level of education, in the total population increased from 75.1 percent in 2008 to 91.3 percent in 2022.

If this indicator is considered with a breakdown on the floor, then while the share of women aged 25 years and older, who completed at least one level of education in 2008, was 67.5 percent, and the share of men – 82.8 percent , in 2022, it will be 86.7 percent for women and 96.1 percent. percentage for men.
