World Bank will allocate $ 46.25 million in framework of energy reforms

The President of Uzbekistan signed a decree “On measures to implement the project” Application of innovative carbon resources for energy reforms “with the participation of the World Bank”, the Uzbek news agency “Dunyo”.

The document was developed in accordance with the program of transition to the “green” economy and ensuring “green” growth in Uzbekistan until 2030, to ensure low -carbon development of the national economy, in particular industry.

The World Bank approved by the allocation of funds in the amount of $ 46.25 million for the implementation of the project “Application of innovative carbon resources for energy reforms”.

The project consists of two components: “Agreements on the purchase of abbreviated emissions” with a financing volume of $ 20 million and “Agreement on the purchase of the results of mitigating the consequences” with the amount of funding in the amount of $ 25 million.

, as part of the project, the World Bank on behalf of Uzbekistan plans to send $ 1.25 million to the global fund for adaptation and reduction of emissions.

$ 2 million allocated as additional technical assistance, is aimed at financing the work on the development of institutional potential and creating infrastructure for control of greenhouse gases (creation of a greenhouse gas register, development of a system of monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV)).

The project is implemented within 2023-2028 On a republican scale.

in the framework of the project in order to reduce carbon emissions and saving energy resources, the tariff policy in the field of power supply and gas supply will be gradually improved.
