Writer Salman Rushdi blinded one eye after an assassination

British writer Salman Rushdi, who survived the attack in August, partially blinded and can work with only one hand, the literary agent of writer Andrew Wiley said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Pais.

According to Wiley, Rushdi blinded one eye. His brush stopped working, as the nerves were cut in his hand. The writer also received three serious injuries to the neck, 15 wounds in his chest and torso.

The attack on Rushdi occurred on August 12 in New York during his lecture on how the United States becomes a refuge for people in exile. Immediately after the writer’s attack, he was taken to the hospital and connected to the apparatus of artificial ventilation of the lungs. He was disconnected from the apparatus two days later, by that time he could speak again.
