Writer Yuris Lorenz: “Armenia has lost confidence. West must support Azerbaijan”

The famous Latvian publicist and writer Yuris Lorenz believes that the events in Ukraine changed their attitude to the conflict in Karabakh, reminding the whole world that international law is on the side of Azerbaijan, reports haqqin.az.

According to the writer, the West forgave the occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan to the Armenians, but now they relate to Armenia differently.

“There are nations that have lost a credit of trust in the past in recent months. They have lost, if not completely, then very much. One of these nations are Armenians,” Lorenz writes on the pages of the Latvian edition La.

The Baltic publicist emphasizes that “all this time many peoples, especially in the Western world, have experienced pity and solidarity for Armenians.”

“Moreover, they were forgiven for the support of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan. But now everything is changing, especially in the space of the post-Soviet space, where many still understand Russian and monitor the events in the Caucasus. The attitude towards Armenia has changed, has become More restrained. What is interesting, neither the Armenian government nor Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is to blame for this change of mood. Because the government does not organize demonstrations and pickets in support of Russian aggression. This is done, so to speak, “ordinary people.”

Lorenz believes that “propagandists of Armenian origin who appear in a disproportionately large number of political programs on Russian television.”

“Margarita Simonyan, the editor -in -chief of the Media Groups of RT and Sputnik, is especially distinguished, but there are enough propagandists of a smaller caliber who calls for the murder of Ukrainians every day. Events in Ukraine raised the Karabakh issue to a new level, reminding us that international law is not on the side Armenians. If the West advocates the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, then he must support Azerbaijan, ”the author calls.
