Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said that they are aimed at deepening strategic cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the field of renewable energy projects: “In this context, we have reached the final stage of implementing an investment project for the construction of a solar power plant (SPP) with a capacity of 1,100 megawatts and worth about $1 billion in Nigde-Bor.”
Bayraktar, in his publication on the social network, said that he received at the ministry the Director General (CEO) of the Masdar energy company from the UAE, Mohammed Jamil Al-Ramahi, and his accompanying delegation.
Noting that the parties discussed the prospects for comprehensive cooperation with the UAE, including in the areas of solar energy, onshore and offshore wind projects, hydroelectric power plants with energy storage and technology transfer, Bayraktar continued:
“In this context, we have reached the final stage of an investment project for a 1,100 megawatt solar power plant with energy storage, costing about $1 billion, which will be implemented in Nowhere-Bore. In addition, potential investments in an offshore wind farm, an HVDC transmission line and a hydroelectric power plant with energy storage were discussed.
According to him, Turkey intends to further deepen our strategic cooperation with the UAE, especially in the field of renewable energy projects, through an intergovernmental memorandum on mutual understanding.
“We are committed to strengthening our infrastructure through cooperation that will strengthen our energy vision, achieve our goal of net zero by 2053 and create an exemplary transformation model in our region,” the minister concluded.
