Under the auspices of the Office of the President of Turkey, in cooperation with the relevant institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) – the Standards and Metrology Institute of Islamic Countries (SMIIC), under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce and the Halal Products Accreditation Agency, the 11th World Halal Summit was opened at the Istanbul Exhibition Center, in which the Minister of Trade Omer Bolat took part.
Accreditation Agency of Halal Products and the Saudi Food and Drug Administration signed a memorandum of understanding.
The summit, organized under the theme “Innovation and Excellence in Halal Trade” under the Anadolu Agency (AA) Global Media Partnership, brings together the halal ecosystem on a global scale and is one of the most important events in this field in the world.
Speaking at the opening of the summit, Deputy Prime Minister TRNC Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu noted that halal trade is not only an economic force, but also a great diplomatic platform that builds bridges between geographical regions, increases the visibility of countries and brings people together. He added that Halal Expo has become an important center that brings together production potential, trade concept and common goals of the Islamic world.

Ataoglu, Explaining that halal trade is based on trust, quality, ethics, traceability and human health, he added: “Each of these values simultaneously increases the brand value of a country. Today, the growth of halal products in global markets not only creates new business opportunities, but also strengthens the image of countries, opens doors for cultural advancement, becomes the window through which people first become acquainted with a particular country. Trade is not only the circulation of goods, but also the circulation of the history of countries.”
The speaker noted that the TRNC is dominated by the tourism, education and health sectors, and said that events such as the Halal Expo provide an opportunity to highlight the potential of countries, demonstrate the quality of products and services, strengthen the brand of tourism and investment, establish new business partnerships and deepen international relations.
Pointing out the importance of relations between the TRNC and Turkey, Ataoglu noted: “Thanks to the strong support of Mr. President Erdogan and Turkey, the international fame of the TRNC is growing, transport opportunities are expanding, tourist and trade routes are strengthened, and the TRNC brand becomes accessible to a wider audience. Cooperation between the TRNC and Turkey contributes to the development of not only the two countries, but also the entire Islamic world as a whole.”
