13-year-old golf from Turkey entered top of world ranking WAGR

Turkish athlete Denise Sapmaz entered the top of the WAGR world amateur rating among women, as the youngest golf Turkish.

13-year-old athlete made a name thanks to the successes achieved in national and international competitions.

In an interview with Anadol, athlete Golf Club Atashehir, Sapmaz said that her parents were players associated with the Atashehir golf club, and she began her sports career in early childhood, spending free time in the club.

According to the athlete, coming to the club every day, she had an interest in golf. “Pursuing this sport, each time I had more and more friends-foremen. I was fun with them. Although I still enjoy training, I became much more serious about them. However, I also need to have fun.” Says Sapmaz.

The girl said that she became a winner in a tournament with the participation of the best golf Turkish. “That’s why I entered the world rating. I became the youngest Golphist in Turkey in this rating. If I lead the world ranking, it will be super. I think that I still have time for this,” Sapmaz is sure.

The athlete said that she took first place in her age category in the sports tournament “U.S. Kids Antalya Turkish Open 2023”, held in January of this year.

Sapmaz also won first place in the competition “5 Stars International Cup” in the category of up to 15 years, which took place in Poland on February 1-3.

She won the Nicos Severis Junior Open 2023 tournament, which was held in Cyprus on February 12, and also took second place in Toro Tour Andalucia Golf Series at the end of February.

In addition, Sapmaz took first place in the first match of the League rating round, organized by the Turkish Federation of Golf on March 10-11. Thanks to this achievement, Sapmaz became the youngest Turkish player in golf, who entered the world amateur rating at the age of 13 years.

Golphist also took part in the Malta Junior Golf Open tournament, which took place in Malta on April 3-5, with the participation of 63 athletes from 18 countries. Here, Sapmaz took first place among 26 golfists under the age of 18 years.
