Adviser to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev and Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan discussed the peace process between the two countries.
Hajiyev and Grigoryan acted as speakers at the panel discussion “Lasting Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan: The Washington Agreement and a Common Future”, which took place within the framework of the 23rd Doha Forum in the Qatari capital Doha.
In their message about panel discussion published on the social network of an American company, X Hajiyev noted:
“We discussed the steps taken to implement the Washington agreements, the economic benefits of peace, communications, confidence-building measures and other issues. I emphasized Azerbaijan’s firm intention to transform the South Caucasus into a region of sustainable peace and prosperity.”
According to reports in the Armenian press, Grigoryan, in his speech at the panel discussion, stated that the governments and societies of Armenia and Azerbaijan is seeking to build trust among themselves and that a certain level of trust has recently developed between the leaders and teams of the two countries.
He expressed the following thoughts about the Trump International Route for Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), which will connect the main territory of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and which is also called the “Zengezur Corridor”:
