456.8 kg of heroin, which was planned to be sent from Iran to Europe, was seized in Azerbaijan.
In a statement, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan reports that at the Iran-Azerbaijan border, at the Astara customs point, narcotic substances were found in a train transiting through Azerbaijan.
The report notes that the carriages of a freight train traveling from Iran to Estonia, were scanned by an X-ray machine, and after suspicious images were found in a carriage transporting ceramic adhesive, the cargo was subjected to a thorough inspection with the help of a dog trained to detect drugs.
As a result of a detailed search carried out after the dog’s reaction, 456.8 kg of heroin were found in 44 of the 3,250 bags.
