A new generation fighter will “read thoughts” of pilot

Tempest plane, which is being developed by a group of European companies, will be equipped with artificial intelligence and will be able to literally “read thoughts” of the pilot, BBC reports.

European companies, including BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce and others, have united to create a new generation aircraft. Tempest fighter will be equipped with artificial intelligence, which in emergency situations will be able to insure and even replace the pilot, taking on its functions.

It is assumed that the pilot’s helmet will be equipped with sensors who will read the signals of the human brain and other medical information.

Thus, during test flights, the Smart Helmet will collect the database of unique biometric and psychometric data of a particular pilot, which will allow the on -board artificial intelligence to intervene and take control if the sensors indicate that the pilot needs help. For example, the pilot may lose consciousness due to overloads in flight, in this case AI will take control.

AI will also be able to process information from the external and internal sensors of the fighter, immediately giving the pilot the results of the analysis and, possibly, instructions for further actions.

The demonstration version of the aircraft will be released by 2027.
