Academician announced most frequent health complaint among patients with COVID-19

Most often, COVID-19 patients complain of depression, anxiety and insomnia. Their complaints were named by Academician, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Chekhonin, RIA Novosti reports.

He noted that problems with mental health and the nervous system occur in those who have recovered on a par with damage to the lungs. People have symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and others.

At the moment, scientists cannot finally explain the cause of the damage to nerve tissues after an illness, the academician specified. Some researchers believe that this may be due to systemic thrombovasculitis, which is autoimmune in nature and is expressed in inflammatory reactions of the brain.
