Afghanistan and Pakistan, with the mediation of Turkey and Qatar, reached an agreement on the continuation of the ceasefire.
As stated by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, from October 25 to October 30, 2025, meetings were held in Istanbul with the participation of representatives of four countries – Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey and Qatar. The negotiations were aimed at strengthening the ceasefire agreed on October 18-19 in Doha through the mediation of Turkey and Qatar.
The statement notes that the parties reaffirmed their commitment to respecting the ceasefire. Additional principles for the implementation of the ceasefire will be discussed and approved at a high-level meeting scheduled for November 6 in Istanbul.
According to the statement, the parties agreed to create a monitoring and verification mechanism that will ensure compliance with the peace and the imposition of sanctions on the party violating the agreement.
The contribution of Afghanistan and Pakistan to the negotiation process was highly appreciated by the mediators – Turkey and Qatar. The statement stressed that Turkey and Qatar will continue to support efforts to establish lasting peace and stability in the region.
Earlier, following border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, a 48-hour ceasefire was declared on October 15, which was then extended until the conclusion of negotiations in Doha with the support of Turkey and Qatar.
