Azerbaijan’s external debt is below $ 7 billion, it also decreased sharply in relation to gross domestic product. If at the beginning of last year the external debt was 17 percent of the gross domestic product, then according to the results of last year it decreased to 9.5 percent. For comparison, I can say that in many developed countries this indicator is 100 and even 130-150 percent. These figures were voiced by President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Azerbaijani television channels.
“We are independent from an economic point of view. If we now want, we will be able to start working with international financial institutions to attract loans, and in fact we started it. Since projects implemented by the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development can be said to be completed. Last year, high -ranking representatives of both leading world financial institutions visited Baku last year, and new directions were determined during the discussion.
