Aliyev: Azerbaijan has largest trade fleet in Caspian

“The railway tracks that we built relatively recently and which we will expand from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey to Europe, received inspiration from our successful implementation of oil and gas pipelines … I think that everything is settled on this side of the corridor.” This, in particular, said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at a panel meeting on the topic “Eurasian Middle Corridor: From the Route to the Highway” as part of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

“Now we need to create … the leading committee, the board of all involved countries – Central Asia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, European partners, including all transport infrastructure. For example, Azerbaijan has the largest trade fleet in the Caspian with 53 vessels, marines Ports in Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, railway communication between the countries of Central Asia, and, as you know, they are poorly interconnected, ”the president emphasized.

The head of state also noted the availability of new projects, “for example, a project initiated by China, a project of the China -Kyrgyz -Uzbekistan railway, which will ultimately reach the Caspian and further in our direction.”

The president emphasized that it is also important to work on transportation and advantages of not only the East – West route, but also the West – East.

“So far, the most attention is paid to how to deliver goods from China, Central Asia to Europe. But we also need to think about cargo transportation in the opposite direction. For this, of course, a business climate in the opposite direction should also comply with us goals, ”the president said.
