On October 7, the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michelle called the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev.
During a telephone conversation, an exchange of views on regional issues took place.
Aliyev noted that the inclusion of Azerbaijan without his participation in a four -sided statement in Granade is a wrong approach. President Ilham Aliyev also said that Azerbaijan did not take part in a meeting in Granada because of the famous position of France. The head of state emphasized that the transfer of Armenia’s weapons by France is an approach not to the world, but to a new confrontation, and if a new confrontation occurs in the region, then France will be guilty of this.
The head of state also added the unacceptability of the anti -azerbaijani statement adopted by the European parliament based on the Xenophobic and chauvinist approach that sounded in it, said that this does not serve to ensure peace and stability in the region.
Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan, using the right to self -defense in accordance with the international law and charter of the UN, completely fixed its sovereignty and ensured the neutralization of illegal military units on its territory. From this point of view, the steps undertaken by Azerbaijan were fully consistent with international law. The head of state added that, on the contrary, states that do not understand this issue have serious problems with international law because of the policy pursued by them in various regions of the world.
The president emphasized that the Central Government provides humanitarian assistance to the Armenian residents of Karabakh, said that the process of registration had begun. He brought to the attention of Michel the fact that it was the notorious regime that forced the Armenians to leave the territory and move from there.
reminding that 8 villages of Azerbaijan are still under the Armenian occupation, Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of freeing these villages from the occupation.
The head of state said that work is underway to create a regional transport corridor between Azerbaijan and Iran, in this context. Not far from the village of AGBend of the Zangilalan district, a ceremony of laying the foundations of projects for the construction of the automobile bridge and borderline infrastructure, coastal measures in the territory.
In turn, Charles Michelle expressed the readiness of the European Union to continue efforts aimed at normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
