Ambassador Horlemanne wants to get to know Azerbaijan better: he will go to Shushu

The chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Forced Migrants, Rovshan Rzaev met on Friday, September 16, with the new German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ralph Horlemanne.

The State Committee’s press service reported that the diplomat, who only started working in Azerbaijan, informed in detail the main areas of state policy in the field of refugee and forced immigrants, about the activities of the committee.

The list said that as a result of an ethnic cleaning and occupation conducted by Armenia, more than a million Azerbaijanis were moved from a permanent place of residence. And only two years ago, after the Patriotic War, the forced immigrants got the opportunity to return to their homeland of their ancestors.

Rovshan Rzaev, chairman of the State Committee, said that the solution to the problems of internally displaced persons is one of the priorities of the social policy of the leadership of Azerbaijan. It was noted that in the liberated territories, large-scale repair and restoration work is carried out, forced immigrants are preparing to return to their homeland. He also expressed confidence that the German Society for International Cooperation (Gİz GmbH) will continue its successful work with internally moved persons during the Great Return.

Ambassador Ralph Horlemann thanked for the meeting and detailed information, emphasized that in the course of his activity he would try to further strengthen German-Azerbaijani relations. The diplomat noted that he wants to get to know Azerbaijan better, and for this purpose decided to go to Shushu.
